Between the layers of moss, priceless patina and French terrazzo, you'll find Saint Verde Farm.
A restored 18th-century barn set in the folds of the Dargle Valley in Natal, Saint Verde has been reimagined over time with devotion to design detail, and secrets that lie in the forest surrounds or up old stone staircases. Monet's house and gardens were somewhere in the conversation when this place took its current shape, and it shows in the light that moves through the French glass conservatory in the morning, and the feeling that the gardens have opinions of their own.
Inside, there is a farm-style kitchen that has hosted rather good dinners, multiple living spaces, courtyards that reward lingering, three bedrooms with freestanding tubs, and living spaces that open onto verandahs and an embarrassment of garden. The bones of this place are 18th century. The sensibility is something altogether harder to pin down.
It photographs beautifully in all directions. Each season arrives with its own particular mood and story. The light in winter is different from the light in summer, and both are rather extraordinary.
We are open to film productions, fashion and editorial shoots, styled events, and private gatherings of the right kind. Every enquiry begins as a conversation.
